Dear Friend:
The society owns the Governor Sprague Mansion, a 28 room home, built in 1790 and enlarged in 1864.They also own the Joy Homestead, an historic 1770's farmhouse, on Scituate Avenue.
Our mission is to promote and preserve Cranston's history. We do this by offering educational programs and tours for both students and adults. The society also sponsors craft shows, concerts, open houses and other programs. Several times a year our members meet at the mansion to hear a speaker on an historical topic.
Both of our properties are also available to the community for special occasions. We have been the site of many small weddings, showers, parties, fundraisers, receptions and business meetings, as well as exhibits and concerts. For more information, including rental fees, please call 944-9226.
