Mission Statement

The Cranston Historical Society’s mission is to protect, document, interpret and expand understanding of Cranston history by maintaining the Sprague Mansion, Carriage House, and Joy Homestead as museums open to the public and by sharing and expanding its collections of art, historical documents, photographs, books and antiquities in such a way as to provide education and enjoyment to its members and visitors. 

The Cranston Historical Society is a private, non-profit educational and historic preservation organization. The Cranston Historical Society is categorized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and membership donations and other contributions are deductible for Federal income tax purposes to the extent permitted by law Copyright, Cranston Historical Society, 2005.
