Our Cemeteries
We have 167 historic cemeteries in Cranston, some of them with graves that date back to the late 1700s. Very few of the people buried in them ever had a monument built in their memory, or a high school named after them. But the paths they walked are the streets we drive. The fields they cleared are where our houses were built. They were shaping our city 150 years before most of us were born.
And all they got were stones in the ground to mark their graves. We at the Cranston Historic Cemeteries Commission clear those graveyards and clean their headstones. And celebrate their lives. We invite you to click on the stories below and learn about the everyday people who shaped our world.
